So which comedian (I presume it's a comedian anyway) tells the story about sitting in a cafe with a newspaper and a pack of biscuits. I don't associate it with any of them but then I read it on the internet anyway so I'm judging purely by style... so what I really mean is, I don't know.

Ah thank you! The reason I ask is that someone on Alex's f-list posted a version of it, claiming it to have happened to him, and Alex didn't believe me when I said he'd ripped it off.

That's okay, I know where my copy is (strangely). Still think I've heard it told too, though I've certainly read Salmon of Doubt / So Long and thanks for all the fish enough times for me to be getting confuzzled.
