I'm assuming, based on your photographs, that you're of northern European descent. You are designed to "hide it" because you're designed to have it. It's the same with me. Since I'm intimately familiar with these things, I'll admit that I could see your weight in your photos, though I felt no compulsion to remark on it. Apparently the United States doesn't think in terms of fat-storing, stocky Europeans, though, and instead thinks in terms of lanky, thin Europeans, thus the blind spot

Exactly, which is why I put quotes around "acceptable." Acceptable to whom? In this case, the board that certified my trainer, who told me close to what you've just written at my first session.
And this is not to mention BMI, which doesn't take our stocky builds into account at all. According to most charts, even if I had 0% body fat, I would be "normal," and closer to "overweight" than "underweight" at that. Of course, at that body fat percentage, I would be doing major damage to my body in many ways.
So thanks, but don't worry, I'm not being unrealistic. I've set my goal slightly above my minimum healthy weight. And I don't deny that there are many health risks to obesity, but certainly that the issue isn't cut-and-dry either.
Great job!!! I myself have lost 20 lbs over the summer, and I'm trying to lose about 15 more by Christmas. Hope you continue to do well on your goals =).
