I have a little more free time due to the symphony season ending, although there's still another week of teaching at PSU. I've been getting a little work done here and there, but by and large doing not a whole lot on my own. When I first saw the word "pursued" I thought that another orchestra was trying to poach you from Portland.

I'm 54 and single. I like it. Does that mean that I am hanging out a NO VACANCY sign? No, not that, either. But I am far less likely to jump into a relationship because I am afraid that I am supposed to be in one. Life unfolds according to a plan, but unfortunately, neither you nor I are cleared to see that plan!

You're a talented man. Sit back and enjoy the ride - wherever it takes you.

How about being the first Big Band Leader that plays a bassoon? Can you work out an arrangement for the Miller standard, String of Pearls for the bassoon? How about the Big Band favorite Caravan?

Now THAT would be a journey and a half!

Regarding this mystery person, stop thinking about it so much. If you at least like going out with him, just run with that. We all get so easily hung up on the idea of romance and, moreover, the idea of lifelong romance, that we psych ourselves out of just enjoying something even with the knowledge that it is temporary ( ... )
