Tue 14 Mar nightI went to orchestra rehearsal. Again I felt myself improving and remembering stuff about playing violin. We played for over 2 hours straight tho so I was really sore by the end of it :P We actually have a concert on Sunday. I wasn’t going to go because 1. it’s an hour away, 2. Mmm, it was a good concert. I especially love Messiaen. More and more I find that I enjoy piano concerts because they give me time and space to think. While my thoughts weren't about the higher orders, it was contemplative.

Wunderbar! I just read about Quartet in my textbook, too (Illegal Harmonies by Andrew Ford). I'm very much looking forward to seeing Collusion play the piece in May, I think. I'm dying to hear it live.

Music is supposed to make us comtemplative, right?

Hmm, yes I believe so. It should be about the work though, what and how it's communicating. But for me recently, its been like a meditative period; an extended shower. *shrug* I guess I've still got the ADD: mega-short attention span :~D

Prior to the last few concerts, I always saw meditation as a waste of time for someone who was always exercising their mind. However, over the last few weeks I've begun to realise that it's also a great way to just sit and think. I used to take regular mind breaks, for like 15-20 minutes; sensory deprivation. I should start doing that again ...
