I have almost 4 kids and have lost all technical knowledge because of it. And I am a very picky eater.

I'm an unemployed father of two young girls (8 and 4). My Wife and I met later in life (in our late 30's) and are "older parents". Unfortunately this also makes us less employable ... each time The Wife went back into the work force after having a baby, she had to take about a 30% salary cut. Me, I did 15+ years in P.R., then started my own Publishing company (which crashed and burned after my throwing every penny I had ever accumulated into it for 10 years), and despite having solid experience in PR, Publishing, Editing, Meeting Planning (I'm a former CMP), and having been recently re-trained in "Web Development & Business Programming", I can't buy an interview. I went to a job fair on Tuesday and am facing the possibility that I might have to try SALES just to get some sort of a paycheck. This sucks big time.

I probably found your L.J. via posts in others' journals, or in one of the conservative/libertarian communities.

I tinker with old Macs, my pride and joy being a decked-out SE/30 that runs NetBSD. The more useful ones (early Powermacs) I fix up to donate to people that can't afford a computer. I wish I had more time to hone my skills. I love to read, but don't get as much time as I used to. I used to read mostly novels (sci-fi and some fantasy) but nowadays I concentrate on the important stuff (history, politics, religion techie references) because of the aforementioned time crunch. I'm fairly active in ministry at an A/G church and have been for some time, and I hope to put some time toward building the CP here. When I was younger I was into archery and guitar, and hope to pick those up again someday. I try to stay fit, but am ( ... )
