New art!

May 13, 2009 15:05

Yay! I finally finished this one after working 2 weeks on it! Trying to go for the new "style". It was hard for me though. It's not quite what I wanted, but I'm still super happy of the result for the first try. Let's hope it gets better from there. =)

"She Sings to Frogs"
12 inches in diameter, watercolour and acrylics on hot pressed paper.

THank you so much Dawn! I'm so glad you feel it's illustrative, that's what I am ultimately trying to go for with the new style. =)

I'm fairly confident it will keep getting better from here. But I LOVE how distinctive the new face style especially is. It's much more three-dimensional.

Something about this kind of makes me think of the centaur girls from Disney's Fantasia, in a good way.

Also, LOVE the background. And the color scheme overall. Something about your art always feels well-made, if that makes sense.

THank you so much for the encouragment! You've totally nailed down the two things I hope I can get better with practice: trying to change the face style for something a little more realistic (but still cartoony-ish, if that makes sense) and a more 3-dimentionnal look.

Thanks so much again!

Annie she is precous,
i love the face , but i must admit most of all i love the frogs , as they really show your sense of humour with all their different poses and attitudes , not just generic frogs

aww thank you so much Fudgey! I really wanted the frogs to have different poses but also, if that was possible different expressions too. I'm glad to hear that it shows. =)
