Honestly, I can't think of anything that would help.

And I am also not understanding why they would want it in AI. I don't understand why anyone would want to work in AI, seriously.
Maybe they intend to work in Photoshop CS3 and think it has to be in Illustrator format? *shrugs*

And as an aside, using students to produce lucrative work is totally illegal. Not a joke.

I don't know myself why they would want AI. It makes no sense at all. They sent me files in SWF themselves...... go figure. X3

But it seems like I won. =P they took the files and didn't say anything. So I guess I got a headache over all this for nothing.

Hi Annie,

The only reason I can think of is that they want the Illustrator file to make some printed items as well. If this is the case, you could tell them that it is possible to export a png or lossless jpg directly from Flash at any size/dpi.

I asked around at work and unfortunately it doesn't look like there's any easy way to convert the gradients. The best suggestion I received is for you to bring it into Illustrator as solid shapes and use a screenshot of your original file to sample the colours. Unfortunately, it still means you will have to re-do the gradients in Illustrator. :(

Best of luck!

PS. I mailed out your parcel yesterday. Sorry, I've been busy recently and didn't have a chance to email you about it.

Thanks for your help! I explained to them how much work it would be to try and convert it all in AI.... so they took the SWF files. (for the amount they were paying me to do it, there was no way I was going to do the conversion unless they were paying me for my time, and I don't think they could afford to pay more for the project)
