I think Canada just proved them that they needed something better to have the priviledge of a majority government. And that's a great think. It shows that we still have the power to change things in this country.

I wish NPD had a little more power too (I also voted for them!) but they aren't getting enough votes in the West nor in Quebec. =(

I know it's only one seat, but didn't the NDP win in Outrement?

Yup yup! It's actually the first time they do get a seat during a federal election here in Quebec. They almost got another one in Gatineau too!

I agree that in some places maybe having more votes wouldn't change it much, but there are some regions, especially here in Quebec where some don't come out just because they think their parties will win anyway, which is not always the case. Betcha there were a lot of surprised Blocist that were surprised to see that the Conservative still managed to get 10 seats here!

Not that I am routing for the Bloc... I didn't vote for them at all. *laughs*

But to me, there is also the fact that because we live in a democracy, the least we can do it take a 15 mins walk to make a X on a little paper. To see that almost half the country felt like it wasn't necessary to do it is troubling.

Oh I agree that the Bloc has good ideas, and these days they don't even mention seperation or they would have lost many votes. People here don't even want to hear about it anymore. In the last provincial election the Quebec party finished 3rd! And since they are saying we are going to have a provincial election in a few weeks... my guess is that we are going for a majority Liberal government here in the province.

The Bloc in itself is a party with seperatists within it, but they couldn't possibly do anything to seperate Quebec from the rest of the country, so I've always considered them as a party ready to fight for ideas that can help the province grow.... I don't always agree with what they do either, but I still think they are relevant even today, but they will always be just an opposition party, so people in Quebec have to consider voting for a leading party when they feel that Canada is ready for a majority government.

You really have to wonder what the outcome would be if more Canadians voted. It's so embarrassing. But you're probably right, another election in a couple of years...
