Sometimes I come up with weird story ideas.

This one is not really weird in itself. It's more about the fact that it's a story about a beaver.

It's like coming up with a story about a moose or a mounted police. It feels too..... Canadian.

But then, the idea for the story wouldn't work with any other animal.

Go for it. Who cares if someone thinks it's too this or that?

I put up "The Fruit" mark 1, and it's still as startlingly beautiful as the day I first saw it. Clicking over, "The Fruit" redux has the same quality of sharp, real beauty, one all its own.

You should follow your ideas - they lead you to good places.

Iused to think that beavers were radically Canadian. But I later found out that they live down as far South as Northern Mexico. People living in the wild parts of the Rocky Mountain states in the US have lots of problems with beavers cutting down their precious trees.

Suddenly "my" beavers felt less special.

Worse still the Canadian/North American beaver is described in a Wikipedia article titled "American Beaver"!

Then again, you can take a page from the South Americans' book and have the word "American" refer to residents of America rather than residents of the US... There's a word in Spanish for US residents which basically boils down to "united statesians".
