I think you are going to have to pay to switch. Unless you just want to start a new journal all together. If not then give them the money, and they will just change the name associated with your account and all our stuff will automatically update, we won't have to add a new person to our friends list, and you will still have your old journal. Otherwise you become a squatter on either your new name or your old one, which means you have multiple accounts but are only using one. After 30 days of inactivity on a free account they delete it, so you have to log on, or comment, or post to an account for them not to delete it. Which would probably mean if you didn't just have the switch the name your old account would be deleted and you wouldn't have your old stuff on it anymore.

That is about all I know.
