 So I'm long overdue for an update.

Firstly, mother has "grounded" me again.  Amber is not allowed over, anytime I run an errand for her I have to pay her the change back in full and I hardly even get to run errands.  She doesn't buy food for me, nor does she cook dinner for me.  Surely this is the best way to motivate someone to get a job, starve

WOW, that is rough. Terrible! :( You really have to be so careful with craigslist... but I really didn't think it was considered statutory rape unless you can prove the person knew they were a minor. Does this mean that the 15 year old kid is pressing charges? Why the hell would he do that? Is it that his family found out and he doesn't want to own up and take responsibility for his own actions?

I'd imagine that's going to be the defense, that my friend had no idea about his age. But still, he's in the super religious south that hates homosexuals.

He said the DA has something to do with his case, so I'm guessing it's the state specifically pressing charges, not the kid. I hope the kid is really stressed out over the fact that he may have ruined the lives of two other people and that he learns from this situation, because he damn well better. Even if both of these guys get off the hook, they'll still have lost a year of their lives at the least.
