We aren't sports people, so I have no clue what alternatives are out there for sports lovers. Though I have heard the argument that over the air broadcasts of sports are better than cable ones, due to the fact the HD is not compressed. I wouldn't know. I do miss BBC America, but to get most of that stuff all I really have to do is wait and it'll show up on Netflix after the DVD is released.
No, they don't have free episodes on their website. Has something to do with British licensing agreements. However, I can get Dr. Who from Amazon on Demand if I want to pay for a season subscription. Or wait until it comes out on DVD.
Yeah, we keep the cable mostly for sports. I also really like Discovery channel and the like - I don't tend to deliberately sit down and watch Mythbusters or nature documentaries, but when I stumble into watching them, I really enjoy it.
I like those too; I used to watch documentaries on Sundays. Mythbusters is on Hulu, and I can get some documentaries through Hulu and Netflix, but I find the kind I really like are sparse. I enjoy documentaries about ancient civilizations and biblical archeology, not common fare on those sites.
Oh well, I barely have time to watch TV anymore. Full time job and full time student together really sucks big rocks. But you know that feeling.
