East Finchley is a good idea, on the grounds of being right next door to Jo & Dee's flat, where I seem to spend about 80% of my evenings.
On the other hand, Dee is having trouble affording the Highgate cost of living herself, so you may be correct in your guess that West London would make more financial sense. I'd move out of London entirely if I could, but where else is there?
An accurate assessment, sadly. Which didn't stop Dawn and I being helpless with laughter quite frequently whilst playing it... some of the dialogue is really that bad !
I finished the game over the weekend (admittedly with a little help) - I didn't think the dialogue was so bad, it just had some of the worst voice acting I've heard (possibly due in part to actors being given lines out of context to read, and some of them not being native English speakers...). It was very nicely put together and quite ambitious, but having the environment in full 3D ended up meaning lots of running around to get anywhere you needed to be, and having to find and talk to all the characters any time you did anything got a bit dull. All of which was a shame, because I thought the plot a couple of the puzzles were rather nice (The pace does pick up toward the end, but it's too little too late), and obviously a lot of work had gone into the level of detail.

I'd file that more under 'dodgy logic' than 'awful dialogue' though.
Just how heavily sedated is Jude supposed to be, anyway?

Owww !
which isn't pretty or, as far as I can tell so far, witty
I quite liked the graphics. Although, I agree, it ain't going to win any prizes for the conversation pieces.
