There's still some life at the moment. I completed on my new flat towards the end of December, during which month I completed just over 30 days of work (on an hourly basis), despite four days of bank holiday and spending three days of vacation time. Mmm, interesting.
If it's December, it must be the work Christmas party, which thankfully included pleasant drinks, reasonable food and pleasant company. I was relieved both by having learned that I passed my last ever accounting exam earlier that evening and by having a room booked in the hotel which allowed me to pass out from tiredness well before midnight. The speeches were... interesting. I think that my escort was quietly amazed.
Over the festive season I visited friends and family. The Templars New Year party was good fun although strangely lacking in recognisable music. I got the chance to chat to
onebyone and ended up almost learning something about physics, although I learnt more about Ben being unable to explain black holes and relativity. Thanks for the festivities, people.
I felt I did fairly well on the giving gifts front this year. In particular, I was pleased with the gift for
onebyone, although I think he may have been slightly bemused by how amusing I found it. In terms of receiving gifts, I was thrilled by a copy of Beyond Good and Evil, which is excellent, and give an honourable mention to a cuddly tiger called Turtle. I am entertaining myself by compiling a list of clear errors in the text of The Grouchy Grammarian, a book presented to me by my father for Chanukah. Eats, Shoots and Leaves, another present from Dad, isn't even a challenge. Sigh.
I have read The Red Tent, Conqueror's Moon by Julian May, The Paths of the Dead by Steven Brust and Memory by KJ Parker, amongst others. I have been playing Beyond Good and Evil and Knights of the Old Republic.
