you AND megwriting are BOTH redshirts? How does that even happen? and yeah, I'll ship Spock/Uhura rather than Kirk/Spock largely because I've never much liked Kirk, either version. He's like the poster child for straight-white-man entitlement. Reason-for-living ended up as Deanna Troi, as it happens.

With you on Kirk, though. One of the most self-righteous, annoying characters in American television. Could never understand why people like him so much - or why Star Trek fans are so determined to saddle poor Spock with him in a relationship!

they do connect in the original now and again, mostly over music, IIRC Spock either plays lute for her singing or lets her borrow his lute-thing. Nimoy himself is pro Spock/Uhura.
