I know that all of you on my f-list have an excellent taste in fandoms (which is why we're friends :-P) and I need your help. Boyfriend and I are looking for new TV series to watch! Husband and I are currently watching Mad Men, we got series one for Christmas... uh, two years ago *coughs* but forgot about it completely. I think it has a slow start, but we have watched quite a bit now, and it grows on me. Very authentic from the early sixties, and it's good to see that there has been progress in society on a few areas since then:)
If you like period dramas, I like Downton Abbey, especially season 1. (Too girly for boyfriend?)
If you like crime, I would recommend BBC's Luther, I think it's great. Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson are awesome in it. There are new crimes to be solved in every episode, but also plots that we follow throughout the season.
And Blackadder:)

West Wing (seconding above). A few things about it irritate me personally, but on balance it's still a very good watch. This is a series most people can't really binge on though (a good thing, probably).
Breaking Bad. This might be too potty-mouthed for your tastes, but the acting is great, the character analysis is biting (protag is not really portrayed as the enviable bad boy he is in the promos, esp. after first season), the whole series has been pretty meticulously plotted, and the cinematography is really beautiful (possibly because there's so much symbolism about colors that they seem to obsess over every shot ( ... )
