Last week's writing went pretty well. I could motivate myself to sit down to write several times and most of the time I got some words written, too. I have done two short fanfic drabbles which have entered the beta-reading process now and got started on my story for the Playing with Fire anthology. Well, basically I have some sort of outline (in my ( Read more... )

Your entries about writing goals really do remind me a lot of my sculpting challenge entries!

Me and the hubby both have the plot bunny not ever being written problem. We have talked about really interesting story ideas that neither of us have done anything with afterward. It happens!

Congrats on your writing from last week! :3

Thanks for taking an interest in my writing goals and commenting. :-)

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who suffers from the lost plots bunnies issue. Is your husband writing, too? Sounds great to have someone to talk plot ideas with! :-) (Though I usually prefer to plot on my own and only share the more or less finished stories...)

I think you've started very well. You got a couple of pieces completed (that always gives me a boost) and a very decent word count.

I can't say that I lose enthusiasm. I do think that the research is what makes a story come alive in my head and allow me to type it. The trick is to figure out what the research for a particular story actually is. For fic it's generally to go back to the canon as well as reading fanfic. For Sherlock I put the show on and let the dialogue just exist in the background. I spent last night reading some specific ACD and this caused my timeline to become clear quite naturally.

If you're not excited about the idea of the research, though, then try something else. Either the rough draft as you proposed here - or possibly try to take a different tact on the research and find something which does inspire you and you want to delve into.

This happens to me a lot too, I'm afraid. I often seem to get ideas at night just before I fall asleep, and I'm often too tired to write down anything but a few words of it that I may or may not understand the next morning;)

1300 words is great, yay:))
