Sherlock Holmes Musical

Sep 01, 2013 22:02

So apparently I either don't update my blog for several weeks or I post multiple posts a day... But I've had the urgent need to squee about the Sherlock Holmes musical the whole week and just couldn't find the time to put my thoughts into a coherent form - so I'll (try to) do that now. :-)

Have my (maybe not that coherent) thoughts and some pictures behind the cut. )

I think I commented when you mentioned you were going to this that I was very curious and couldn't wait to hear what you thought of it so thanks for the commentary!

This does sounds really interesting. I hope it gets picked up and becomes available somehow that I can see it. I'm disappointed there weren't more canon callbacks but that can also go overboard if not done well or subtly (this is one of the things that is difficult to do that I think they nail perfectly in BBC's Sherlock).

Somewhat related to the second generation Holmes and Watson idea, have you listened to the BBC's Second Holmes? It is a comedy series about the grandsons working on cases together (Watson rather enthusiastically and Holmes more reluctantly) that I enjoyed.

Ah, I'm always happy when someone is interested in my (sometimes rather confusing) thoughts! :-) After I finished this review, I thought of many more things I could've said, so maybe I'll do another entry? Maybe not, though... ;-) If it does get picked up, I'll let you know, though. :-)

And I agree - having subtle callbacks to canon is one the major strengths of BBC's Sherlock! They're usually made in such a way that you wouldn't notice anything unusual unless you understood the references. Very, very well done.

Oh, that audio series sounds awesome! Sadly, it's not available on BBC iPlayer at the moment... You do not happen to have it downloaded? *puppy eyes* I'd love to listen to it!
