Actually, I didn't even like the first Hobbit movie that much and I don't have very high expectations for the second one, either. But there's no use pretending otherwise, as soon as a new trailer comes out, I'm super excited again! :-D

I always try my best to look at the films as something totally different from and separated from the books in order to enjoy the films for what it is. I wasn't able to do it with for instance Harry Potter, but I more or less did with The Hobbit. I enjoyed watching the first film (even if my favourite scene was quite early in the film, and nothing else could live up to it - the scene where the dwarfs sing in Bilbo's home :)). Looking at the trailer for the new film makes me excited again, like you :D

Ha, everyone's fangirling over the trailer, most particularly over Mr Cumberbatch's voice. XD Which is very nice, granted, but I also can't help but think how difficult it must've been for him to keep speaking like that.

Also, are they seriously going for some kind of romance between Legolas and Tauriel? Because it looks like that and I'm just meh about it.

I wasn't that fond of how they told the story either, but the visuals were stunning.

You know, I can't stand Lord of the Rings. I admit I went to see the Hobbit purely because of Martin, but I've come away with a kind of fondness for it. And every time I see it, I'm so, so proud of Martin. Because he, who is now known for playing this firm, deadly, fiercely loyal soldier, has taken this other character - timid, growing, shaky - and made him his own. Bilbo and John could not be further from each other - yet Martin has made both work and it shows what a stupendous actor he is ( ... )

I'm still dying of laughter at the obvious Mary Sue.
