In the woods bordering wetlands I came upon entrails: quite fresh by what I could tell, although perhaps I ought to remember that the freshest fish I've ever seen has at least a day between my seeing it and the sea, most likely more. Suddenly I imagine you as an urban legend, a myth to scare children: A thing that snatches youngsters, rends them, jumbles their bones together in a huge knapsack, and then, once a year, amuses herself by trying to piece together whole matching skeletons.
