I live in Ohio. I don't recall ever having to declare a party affiliation when registering to vote, so how exactly are they deciding which voters are D and which are R to pull off this Macavellien scheme? I'm also not easily impressed stories prefaced by "this was confirmed by a friend of mine who has sources that can't be named."
