Day 3 of paleo and I can't believe how satisfied I feel with meals! I realized how little I actually WANT grains. I'm not craving them and only when rice and beans are in front of me do I lament not being able to eat it. I've been feeling satisfied with meat and little else.

I'm also craving carrots a lot, which has always been my favorite veggie, ( Read more... )

Good for you! I entertained the idea of the diet for a few days but I knew I wouldn't have the will power to stick to it. Your success so far has inspired me... to toy with the idea again. lol

... Incidentally, carrots are very high in natural sugar. ;)

Haha that's awesome! If Ian and I can do it (the junk food king and queen) then you definitely can! You know, it's not as hard as I thought it would be! Once I realized how many alternatives there are to avoid grains, it took away the worry that I wouldn't be able to do it.

Ohh great, of COURSE they're the most sugary, ugh haha. Root veggies are a staple of the diet so I'm going to guess that it's okay that I devour the most naturally sugary of the bunch, haha.

Considering how much I like bread type things, and how little I tend to like veggies, yours is a diet that would just kill me.

Also, having grown up almost exclusively with honey, it will always remain my go-to, particularly for tea. My mother used to just swap out sugar for honey when baking, and I actually prefer the taste in most things, though it's a minor change. Also, if you even further earth-muffin (as my mom has called herself at times), you can go on to agave.

Be grateful about the farting too, I used to hang around this vegetarian girl who seemed to do nothing but at times...

YEAH I'm a pasta and bread lover too (my mom is italian and my husband is gifted in baking), so I was dreading giving it up! But to be honest, the minute I focused on eating more meat, I felt so much more satisfied that I didn't even crave pasta at all. It isn't until it's in front of me that it's a slight challenge, but even then I just feel so good without it that it's easier to say no. Of course there are days when I'm allowed to cheat, so I'm never going to completely swear off pasta---I love it too much! And Ian makes only the best kind of bread with the healthiest grains so if I'm going to eat any grains it'll be that ( ... )
