CHARACTER INFO
CHARACTER NAME: Tieria Erde
SERIES: Gundam 00
TIMELINE: Season 2, post Ep 13
PERSONALITY:
Tieria had once been a person who lived for the plan; his life had been dedicated to follow Veda's orders, and he did so without complaint. He trusted Aeolia Schenburg's plan and Veda . His world had been simplified to black and white with no grey in between, where everything Veda said was always correct and everything else was wrong. Thinking himself to be above human faults, he held himself in a lofty position over the crew, The one whom he judged the harshest, however, was himself; he thought he should be nothing less than perfect, and took the slightest mistake on his own part harder than one should.

Over the course of interactions with his fellow Meisters, most noticeably Lockon, he began to open up, realizing that things were not as simple as he'd believe. Once cut off entirely from Veda, he no longer had that infallible presence to fall back on, and he felt lost. At that time he was encouraged to follow his own emotions and ideas, something he had once highly discouraged himself from doing, and in the four years he spent rebuilding Celestial Being after that final battle he had much to think about. Remember the 'older brother' role that Lockon had taken with Tieria, he tried to emulate that, though for someone like him it's been difficult.

Not used to acting like and being "human," he often comes off as awkward and strange, not quite knowing what to do yet having the drive to help. Most of his intelligence is focused on book-learning than street smarts, practically a walking encyclopedia that can stratagize at a moment's notice, quickly processing data and possessing a perfect memory. Incredibly blunt, he doesn't bother to sugarcoat his words, but he doesn't make a point to be harsh about it, either; he's just stating things has he sees them. His sense of humanity is still developing but making nice progress, though his humor could use some serious work. Dry and slightly sarcastic, his 'jokes' are more likely to leave someone perplexed than amused. There's a distinct difference in how he treats people; to those he knows and trusts, he is relatively kind, no longer the harsh person he used to be. But to outsiders he is incredible critical, often looking down on them and holding them to near impossible standards. It seems like his old self hasn't disappeared entirely.

His uncertainty has only grown stronger, a symptom of working towards becoming more human. Before, he only had to worry about doing what Veda wanted, and when he failed, even in the slightest, he would break down privately before requesting punishment to make up for his mistake. Now, he's not afraid to show hesitation to his friends, no longer hiding behind the righteousness he'd once held. He's not completely open with his problems, not until he's had time to think them over and process them correctly, but after awhile he's willing to come to others to seek their opinion or confess. While not much, compared to who he used to be it's a large improvement.

BACKGROUND:
Tieria was not so much born as created, his DNA chosen from a specific base sequence and modified to make him an Innovade, a false Innovator that is able to use quantum brain waves for communication with both other users and the giant super computer Veda. As a member of the private military organization Celestial Being, he was expected to carry out the will of the man whose theories were like the Bible to him, Aeolia Schenburg, and follow a closely devised plan to stop warfare and fully bring humanity into space.

The first step was armed interventions of any and all conflicts with advanced technology in the form of mobile suits called Gundams. Equip with the special GN Drives that ran on endless energy, the Gundams were well beyond what any of the three major power blocs had, initially making it quite easy for them to intervene.

One of the four pilots, or Gundam Meisters, chosen by Veda, Tieria was the pilot of Gundam Virtue, and the Gundam Nadleeh hidden beneath its armor. Because of his unique ability to interface with Veda directly, he felt strongly that its judgment and goals were always right and that he was the one to enforce them, criticizing others for deviating even the slightest from the path Veda had set for them. And he wasn't incorrect in thinking that; given to him was the ability to use the Trial System, which could shut down any Gundam connected to Veda. It was a fail safe in case one of the pilots went insane and was entrusted to the only non-human of the group, as it was expected of him to remain aloof and unbiased, above human fallacies.

The first interventions went well, instilling a positive reaction from the populace. The military, however, worked constantly to update their technology in order to catch up to the Gundams. One of the power blocks, the HRL, discovered the location of the Ptolemaios, a cargo ship that acted as a base of operations for Celestial Being, and attacked them outright. The true intentions of the operation was to capture the Gundams, and Kyrios ended up being captured. Tieria, piloting Virtue, attempted to destroy the supply cargo it was being held in to prevent the enemy from getting information or technology, but was also captured in the attempt. Had he not purged the outer armor to reveal Nadleeh, both suits wouldn't have been able to escape.

Despite the apparent success, Tieria considered it a failure and took it rather hard. Having to reveal Nadleeh before the plan dictated shook him to the core, and privately he showed the first signs of losing his cruel mask.

It only went downhill from there as their public image dropped, mostly in thanks to the appearance of three new Gundam Meisters: the Trinity siblings. They left behind careless amount of collateral damage, and tampered with Veda to hide information about themselves. Being denied access to information stored in Veda for the first time shocked Tieria, and unsettled him enough that he began to stray towards opening up to his fellow pilots.

Veda was completely lost of them when it was compromised after Alejandro Corner, a member of the UN and a traitor within Celestial Being, found Veda's physical location and attempted to take it for himself. Anticipating such a move, the Ptolemaios reverted to a database it had created as a backup, completely cutting itself off from Veda. Feeling lost, Tieria was unable to pilot his Gundam, unwilling to accept connecting to the new network. It nearly led to his death, if fellow Meister Lockon had not protected him from a blow during a battle. It meant the loss of one of the sniper's eyes, and feeling guilty that it was caused by him, Tieria tried to protect Lockon by keeping him restricted to the Ptolemaios and out of battle.

Lockon, however, could not stay idle and joined the other Gundams in fighting; now on the defensive, the world had united together in order to destroy Celestial Being, and the Ptolemaios was under heavy attack. During an engagement with the man behind the terrorist bombings that killed his family, Lockon died at his hands. Tieria mistakenly blamed and took out his frustrations on Setsuna, who had split their forces by returning to earth and arrived too late to help Lockon.

The remaining three Meisters put up as good a fight as they could, trying to protect the Ptolemaios but ultimately failing. Discarding Virtue for Nadleeh, Tieria's Gundam took enough damage that it became immobilized, drifting useless in space. The Ptolemaios was destroyed, with few of its crew members making it out alive, and the fate of the Setsuna and Allelujah unknown. For all intent and purposes, this incarnation of Celestial Being had been sacrificed to unite the world.

Having been recovered from near death, Tieria spent the next four years working to rebuild Celestial Being on the new Ptolemaios, even though he was the only remaining Meister and most of the previous crew had been killed or disappeared. He no longer had Veda to guide him, but that mattered little; the world that had been birthed from their armed interventions was one that was still corrupt and their mistake had to be corrupted. The united government had formed a autonomous peace keeping organization called A-LAWS, who brutally put down any residence without letting word leak to the public. This oppression was not what anyone on the Ptolemy had wanted, and to this goal Tieria worked hard to unite everyone and prepare for Celestial Being's return.

The first of the pilots to be found was Setsuna, who took a great deal of leadership off of Tieria's shoulders, independently recruited Lockon's twin brother to act as the new Lockon, and retrieved Sumeragi from the drunken stupor she was living in. Allelujah had been captured by the enemies and, after a successful rescue mission, returned to the team.

At one point Allelujah had crash landed on a island and during the mission to retrieve him (again), Tieria was approached by Regene Regetta, who shared his appearance almost exactly. Explaining that there were other bio-terminals like himself called the Innovators, Regene explained that Aeolia's true plan had been 3 steps. The first had been the destruction of Celestial Being. Wonder if they were actually following the original plan or only making things worse, Tieria kept this meeting a secret until he could confront their leader, Ribbons Almark.

The Innovators had been pulling the strings of the new government, and Ribbons had been the one who had initially taken control of Veda away from Celestial Being. Determining the Innovators to be the distortion they'd been fighting against all along, Tieria refused to accept his own kind and instead decided to become "human."

After telling the other members of Celestial Being about the Innovators, Tieria expected to be rejected because of what he was, but instead the others only said he was their comrade and nothing else matter. Relieved, Tieria's efforts towards socializing with the others seemed to increase. The Innovators create an orbital weapon able to wipe out an entire city with one shot, and it was during this operation that Tieria was finally able to accept Lockon's twin brother, Lyle, as an acceptable replacement to the original.

DREAM:
The ship has long since crashed, the skeleton of the fuselage rotten down to the support beams and exposing what was once a secure, air tight environment. It's been worn by a wind that doesn't exist, colors and metals beaten out until it blends in with the hazy grey atmosphere of the moon.

He cannot stay here any longer.

Uncurling from the broken captain's seat, he uses the moon's weak gravity to glide over the wreckage, never once looking back. The earth hangs imposing and gorgeous above him, and he has eyes only for it.

---

The graveyard flickers and breaks around him, as if the image is unable to keep itself stable. It makes it hard to navigate; tombs and data keep glitching in front of him, clipping through him. But he makes it to the one spot that does not waver, the one tomb that stands pristine and sacred. The bouquet of yellow carnations and pasque flowers have wilted, barely recognizable, but he still places them on the fresh dirt, a content smile on his face.

The grave only reads '0998'.

---

The room is small, and clutter, and dark. He can't remember the last he took a shower or even changed his clothes, and plates of half-eaten rations from the last few days lay piled on top of each other. The monitors of the many computers serve as the only light, illuminating the countless papers spread over every available inch, completely filled with ideas that have been re-written over and over by numerous people. He- no, they- are so close to being finished, to finally rebuilding everything they had lost and repairing everything they had broken. He knew he should get some sleep before he passes out again, or shoot himself up with another dose of epinephrine, and that staring at the formula won't make it complete itself anytime soon.

LiF + BF 3 ➝ LiBF 4. LiBF 4 + ....

How could they use that? Should he add C4H6O3, C4H10O2, or C4H6O2? Or just abandon the formula and go back to synthesizing LiMF6 + ZBF4? He scratches it out, frustrated at being stonewalled by something so basic.

Perhaps he should restart with PEO3:LiBF4.
