Well, I guess you could describe my position as a type of archivist, at least in part. Other than that my history degree is not being used for much, except to annoy people when I analyze current events through the prism of history. =)

You’ve probably heard older people talk about the “good old days.” But were they really all that good? Were people and ideas all that different? How did the good old days become today ( ... )

wow, that sounds complicated.

my senior thesis was on kennewick man. a "native american" man whose remains date back more than 60,000 years. because he was found near a reservation, his bones must be reburied immediately according to indian nation laws. but there are signs the bones are caucasoid rather than mongoloid which would mean there were caucasians in america before the indians. or that indians are descendents from "europeans" or anglo saxons and could possibly be a cross-breed of some sort.

but native americans insist its their ancestors and demand the bones be reburied immediately because excavating a person in their resting place is sacreligious. however, scientists believe these bones can answer once and for all who native americans evolved from. i.e. if they crossed the siberian land bridge or if they immigrated here hundreds of years before.

the rights to the bones are still being decided in the courts and there is no answer yet. what a mess.
