0033. His breaking composure (for reasons he can't understand)

Bridge, thank you for your assistance in repairing Sniper's mechanical sphere. I still haven't managed to fix the programming bug; apparently, it is only capable of repeating "lock on" at the moment. I may have to wipe its memory completely and program a new OS from scratch ( Read more... )

I do not think the harpies have a high enough level of intelligence to care about taste.

Many amongst us do not have a high enough level of intelligence.

The orange sphere has been rather noisy, hasn't it?

It's more like they choose not to use it.

Has it been keeping you up?

"Lock on." I think it might be attempting to target something, despite having no armaments.

I don't

...Perhaps it's best that it's muffled. It sounds like the memory I had.

I agree.

Which memory are you referring to?

...Something using humans as food? What are your theories? We can talk off the journals if it makes you more comfortable.

I am fine discussing the matter in this medium.

Locket documented her observations about the harpies, the strange bird-like beings that have recently appeared; they were attracted to any food she left out. They have shown aggressive behavior towards people, attacking to the point of leaving deep wounds, and combined with the mysterious disembodied limbs found in the tree's branches, it is a logical conclusion to draw.

It's best not to rule out any possible reasons for the limbs in the trees. Until solid evidence is presented it can only move from theory to possible suspect. The question is how long have these Harpies been in the Sphere? Where did they come from? Where do they roost? And who has been killed by one?

I am only offering it as a possible explanation. If it's true, there is additional reason to protect oneself.

The first documented mention of the harpies was on the 17th, which coincides with the first time I spotted one personally. Their origin is unknown, though it is not uncommon for strange creatures to appear so suddenly, and I would believe their roosts to be above the residential area, either in nests or in the trunk itself. So far there have been no reported deaths at their hand, only injuries ranging in severity.

Hm... I thought the harpies appeared after the limbs. It's a good idea, but they haven't killed anyone since they came out in the open, right? I'm thinking there's something else...

They did, but the period of time between the two events is short enough that they can be connected. If the harpies are, indeed, not the cause of the limbs, then I worry over what other danger we must face.

You are growing close to Wolf, are you not?
