0034. His diminishing faith in humanity (the road to innovation)

Mar 07, 2009 11:50

I don't understand how people can be so excited and concerned with candy and swimming. Clé was murdered and, shortly after, disappeared. How could she have not left such an impression that her passing is overlooked for such frivolous things? Justice, for someone who was so aggressive in pursuing my own demise when your involvement was not wanted, ( Read more... )

ooc: no more battle bikini boo, ooc: cotton candy tastes like whispy hel, ooc: cle was my homegirl, ooc: i suck at being active, ooc: so we're terrorists now

She's acting like all guards do nothing and like we don't care people are disappearing! I'm always looking for people!

There are some things that seem to be out of your control.

I know if you could you'd bring everyone back. But you can't.

People cope in different ways. It's... easier, to think about the candy and the beach than disappearances.

Especially since it seems like we don't have any control of what happens. But you're right. We can't ignore it when people are getting hurt and dying. We need to do something.

But it's completely unproductive. The only way for a situation to change is to take action.

I have to admit that you are right, about our lack of control. However, that doesn't mean we are powerless. If there is a way to prevent even one more disappearance, we should be considering it.

...It's difficult to keep an eye on everything that's been happening, Aurora. And.. Unlike yours, her death was less... dramatic.

If we could set up a surveillance system, it would be that much easier to monitor everything. I wonder if we could ever have the resources for such an endeavor.

A death is a death, isn't it? When I died, I was accused of being callous about it, only for the same people to act apathetic about Clé. Is that not wrong?

I'm not sure many of the residents would agree. While it would be effective, you have to keep a balance between a watchful eye and invasions of privacy.

...I understand the dilemma, but... I wasn't even aware that Cle had died while you... Ah...

Essentially, circumstances are always going to be different. Small, reoccurring glitches in each system that can't always be approximated before hand. And as such, everything is reacted to differently.

It would only be in public areas. Even I would be hesitant to give up the privacy of my home.

I never expected for it to reach the journals like that. But news of Clé's death also became public shortly after it happened, along with her disappearance. It was as if people chose to ignore it because it was not sensationalized.

That is what worries me. I do not like that I've started wondering who will be next instead of if it will happen. Are we all inevitably destined to just disappear one day?

So this happens often?

I'm sorry. I could begin a search for Miss Clé, if you'd like, and inform you of my progress? I have very little need for rest, so I think I can cover more ground.

It happens often enough. I am growing rather sick of losing people close to me.

I would appreciate it. Thank you, Locket.

Your assumptions about my activities or lack thereof are always entertaining to hear, Aurora.

And for one so righteous, it has taken you a great deal longer to note the unreliability of the Guard than it has those who arrived in your wake.

Considering how vocal you usually are over the journals about your progress, it is hard not to miss what you are up to. What was your business with Raise?

I have been upfront about my doubt concerning the guards long before now. If you've missed it, perhaps you are not paying close enough attention. In increasingly dangerous times like now, that is not advisable.

If you are so confident that the journals contain the entirety of my daily thoughts and actions, then why do you feel the need to ask?

I have observed you making ill-judged remarks in the face of an open attempt by the guards to address the issues to which you allude, and yet you were remarkably silent in the period when such things were never mentioned nor action taken.

It is because your journal is lacking that very information; it is quite suspicious.

I was allowing any changes or suggestions to take place. Since I have yet to see improvement, I saw no reason to wait any longer.
