taking calculus doesnt help much at all. all it mean is you know how to derive the formulas. not neccessary know how to use them. lol

Whats the tangent stuff they keep talking about? and like how to use it to find a slope or whatever? im so lost lol

its a tangent line. the slope of that line will give you a slope at the point that the line touches your graphed function. its nothing we need to know for chem. but its the basis of calculus. i forget why he mentioned it.. but its not that important.
