Back to Wrestling

I returned to the wrestling fandom full time last week and lol, it hasn't changed a bit...except, it has? WHERE DID ALL THE FIC GO? Did fanfiction.net have some mass deletion of inactive authors/and or stories because they still have the tags for the stories but the stories I remember ARE NOT THERE ( Read more... )

a note about ff.net I learned: one of my favorite authors stopped updating. I wanted to go back and reread some of their stories and could only find their complete stories. Turns out ff.net, if emails bounce from the email associated with the account, will deactivate your account and delete all of incomplete fics, but will leave the complete ones still there. Frustrating, but maybe that's what happened to some of them.

O.O Oh that just makes angrier at them (ffnet) than I already was. Especially since that's the only place where you can even FIND some of the old authors works. TT_TT

http://fanfictiondownloader.net/download.php <- I live by this thing! Hope it helps with your fanfiction stockpiling needs!

That was a majority of the site pre=2010! This complete fics might be a whole new concept or a new aspect of the system, because all the authors I'm searching for stories were completed back in 08/09 and before then, I even had some of URLs written down on paper from back in 2006 (I'm a very organized person).

I find it more than frustrating since a number of people only posted on FF or only used FF besides their own host, and even the waybackmachine can't catch everything. This means a huge amount of stories are lost to the black hole of the interweb. I't's sad. D:

Thanks for telling me though, I appreciate it! How have you been, btw?

I know, the "complete" option was around back then, but believe me, I know your frustration. There was this one story I read ages ago and fell in love with and the author disappeared, deleted everything without warning. There's so much lost because a lot of times it'd get posted on ff.net and geocities and that was it. I've been trying to crosspost to ff.net and AO3 simply because if people want to save AO3 lets them.

I'm doing well, trying to figure out where to travel this year and I started a new job that's way less stressful than my old job. I'm not as into kpop (there haven't been many concerts in NYC lately at a reasonable price) so I haven't been on omona. Also going to lots of hockey games, I have a partial season ticket this year which is great. Other than the Devils are terrible.

How are you doing otherwise?

Fanfiction Downloader Saved My Reading Life blkdragonqueen February 7 2014, 01:26:35 UTC
I've always had the policy of "if the summary sounds even remotely interesting, save every chapter". Even if the fic turns out to be a total bust when I finally do sit down to read it, I've already saved all the chapters in HTML format and they're on a disk from that month and year of whenever I was heavy into whatever fandom. Ever since I found fanfictiondownloader, I got even worse. :P ( ... )

I've started banking on that now thanks to that Dec 15th delete. I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS BECAUSE I READ SO MUCH FIC.

Yes, because fanfiction isn't like books! You can't always find copies of it later, especially if where it was hosted purges their systems. I either C/P onto a doc and save it as a PDF, the author has their own PDF, or AO3 has that neat downloading tool. I might have to hit you up for some fic in certain fandoms, you have a list of those you're in by any chance?

I'll definitely try it out now, thanks! :D Oh and I live for your story Cover Me. I haven't read it since chapter 60 on AFF, but I stopped since I have a thing about incompleted fics. WHEN YOU FINISH THOUGH, I am going to flood your inbox with reviews. FYI <3
