Let's also not forget that Wilt the Stilt (a/k/a Wilt the Man-Whore) dropped 100 in one game. And yet, for all of his prodigious accomplishments, he did have one Achilles heel, and that man, who won more championship rings than he has fingers, was Bill Russell. Probably the greatest rivalry in the history of the NBA, save for maybe Magic Johnson - Larry Bird.

BUT. i just finished the Pistol Pete book, and also reading up on some scores in the 70s... I wonder if any teams played much defense? Also, the pace of those games must have been crazy, up and down affairs. Also-- in Wilt's 100 point game, supposedly (according to the Pistol Pete book; I didn't read the latest Wilt book about the 100 pt night that came out like 2 years ago) his team would foul to send the other team to the line to give Wilt more time. That isn't sporting!

It doesn't matter how shoddy the defense was, 32 games is 32 games is 32 games.

And, no, that's not sporting. That's gaming. ;)
