Alberto Gonzalez just resigned! He managed to resign without actually saying the words "I am resigning" or "I have handed in my resignation." He said "I will end my service" on 17 September. Whatever. As long as he goes. He then went on to laud himself for his protection of American civil liberties. Uh ... okay ( Read more... )

The best part of this story, other than the non-resignation resignation, is that apparently Bush knew about this on Friday, but they chose to wait until Monday to let the public know. And surprise surprise, it's not like the media outlets are trumpeting the news as they ought to - at least, none of the ones that I read/watch.

I'll tell ya, that one incident in the hospital room has almost completely redeemed John Ashcroft in my eyes. Almost.

Did you see Bush's remarks regarding the resignation? Where he cried about how "unfairly" his AG, who has spent his tenure in office trouncing up and down on the Constitution, making end runs around American law (not to mention human decency), and lying to Congress about his actions--oh, I'm sorry, he doesn't recall those meetings, Senator ...

I think the only thing more outrageous than this resignation farce is the name being bandied about to replace Gonzalez: Michael Chertoff. That glorious leader of men who spearheaded the Katrina fiasco. I can't wait for the confirmation hearings.

No, I missed those remarks. I try to stay away from the news, excepting the headlines, as my doctor has suggested that too much media consumption will cause my dander to flare up.

He'd better not nominate Chertoff. I have heard rumors that Comey might be the nominee; we can only hope. Hell, I'd make a better AG than Chertoff. Is Chertoff even a lawyer, for Chrissakes?

That was my first thought, so I checked. According to wikipedia, he used to be a judge on the US Court of Appeals, served as a federal prosecutor, and was Assistant AG at some point.

Still, there are lobotomized chimpanzees who think he would be a terrible candidate. Which kind of makes him perfect for the Bush regime, doesn't it?

I really enjoyed this post. You write about this topic very well. There are many cherished moments in life, why not wear a beautiful dress! When looking back on special memories of your child wearing a gorgeous dress, it will make a fond memory.
