consultation on the use of 084 numbers within the NHS

The Department is considering prohibiting the use of 084 numbers in the NHS.
This consultation document seeks views from all interested parties on the future use of 084 numbers in the NHS. closing date: 31 march 2009.

0845, 08457, 0844, codes, etc...

e.g. my GP surgery is an 08444 number, and i get charged at premium rate if i call them (tho they claim it's a lo-call rate number - like the 0845, 08457 numbers usually are - something is wrong somewhere there!).

Apparently coincidentally, anarchist_nomad just linked to http://www.saynoto0870.com/ - looks like a useful site for finding the standard-rate numbers hiding behind premium rate 0870 numbers. :)

yes, it can be a useful site =nods= sometimes a bit hit and miss, but generally overall useful :)
