vegans in hospital (in the uk)

a significant of mine is in hospital atm, and i've been doing a bit of research into vegan food and support in hospital on their behalf.

i know from expereince how difficult it can be to get fed appropriately in hospital as a vegan - my own experiences have included not being well catered for even with prior 'warning', and/or vegan items ( Read more... )

=nods= more often than not when i've been in hospital i've needed to take in my own food, and/or get others to bring food in for me.

=nods= yes, this continues to frustrate and anger me (and mine). i find it very hard to see how the health system fails to notice how integral nutrition is to health and recovery - our body can only build and repair from what we eat!

and, yes, i've also recently heard a very similar issue to the one you describe - available food options being over-spiced/simply spicy and inappropriate for a patient with tender tummy stuff/a delicate/compromised gut due to illness and/or surgery.
