What's even sadder is that I've already been in one argument over this. 'Men get raped, too!' was the big objection. Feh.

it'd be interesting to see that argument. obviously male victims of sexual assault are marginalized and largely ignored, but it's also a classic excuse some people use to disregard all sorts of important things.

The person in question thought it was unfair that men were being associated with the 'rapist' POV because men get raped. Poster then backed up that assertion by discussing Debra LaFave, and then proceeded to talk about how women were really the violent ones because they are the most likely to kill their kids. I mean, honestly. If you are going to give an example of a woman raping a man, don't use an example like Debra LaFave.

It would have been one thing had the person not just been regurgitating backlash-y type myths. I agree that an interesting discussion is to be had. But I perceive any discussion of female-on-male rape during a discussion about male-on-female rape to be pretty much a means of derailing conversation.
