This woman was unable to gain access to EC, thanks to her slow-dragging gynecologist. She has taken heaps of abuse from fuckwad misogynists and pro-lifers because she dared seek out EC. Now it comes out that she is pregnant, and she will most likely abort the baby.

As I posted this morning the EC failed and I'm currently taking other steps while ( Read more... )

Isn't it horrible? To have insane difficulties finding EC, and then to have a bunch of cowardly little shitbags talking about how you deserve to die as a result? And then, on top of all of that, to find out the EC failed and that you've got to get an abortion?

Pro-lifers my fucking ass. These people are murderous, hateful, evil fuckers.

The whole thing makes me want to go out and stock up on EC, not just for myself, but so if any of my friends needs it, they don't have to depend on horrible OB/GYNS like BB did.

It's terrible. ANd she is completely right - why are we made to feel like we don't count, that the only thing that matters is the baby?

Because, don't you know, it all goes back to Eve. That bitch, fulfilling God's plan and all. She should have been shot.

"But perhaps, to those of you who wonder why women are resentful, the more appropriate question would be, why do people feel entitled to strip these same women of all humanity and dignity for the sake of the fetus inside of them?"

...this is *exactly* why I am starting Weapons of Mass Reproduction. On the thirteenth, my friends and I are going to don fake pregnant bellies and go out to bars, do shots and smoke. My friend owns a medium bus (a school bus that is longer than the famed "short bus" but not full sized) and we are all going to pile into that and bar hop.

We are getting some literature together so we have some talking points. If there is anything you want to direct me to, that would be great. SPecifically right now we are focusing on fetus rights vs. the host-mothers rights, and the track record of GWB vs. womens rights since he was appointed the throne. I wish you lived in Seattle so you could come along as an official member of the press and document the whole thing.

Oh wow, that sounds like a very provocative kind of direct action. I'm impressed, and yeah, I wish I could be there to document it. Will you be posting about it in your LJ?

Yes I will be posting about it.
Here is blog, we slapped it up until we have time to do a proper website:
http://www.weaponsofmassreproduction.org/latest.html

It started when I heard the CDC had declared all women should consider themselves "pre-pregnant". I wanted to protest it made me so angry. Turns out that while it definitely describes the perpetual state they want us to view ourselves in, it is not a term used anywhere in the report. This got me doing more research, because I realized if I was going to get peoples attention the way I was planning, I should then avoid misquoting reports or people, and really arm myself with some facts.

The more I look the more I absolutely feel the general demise of womens health and reproductive rights during the Bush administration should be brought to the forefront of public knowledge.

I really, truly admire the way you think and write. Could you do me a favor, and tell me if you *were* going out with us ( ... )

Oh wow, I will totally look this over. I'm at school right now and so I can't focus as much as I'd like to, but I will definitely read through the site and give you any feedback I can think of. The idea is really incredible, because it will definitely get a dialogue going. You might piss off a lot of people initially, but hey, at least that way you know you are doing something right!

Will someone be taking pictures and such? How many do you think will show up?

I was actually sort of thinking myself about doing something related to this issue. Not quite what you were doing, but more like putting up a blog where women could post about their experiences with fucked up OB/GYNs who deny them access to EC, as well as the names, contact information, clinics, and locations of said doctors. There has to be some way of getting the word out about these doctors, you know?
