I wrote a rather tongue in cheek fanfic a little while ago - a cross over between HP and Jasper Fforde's 'Thursday Next' (see below) - in which I bring up the point about grammar and spelling in fanfics. Obviously much more difficult for non native speakers, and English is often very perverse in its spellings. I don't know Dutch, though I have been to the Netherlands a few times, but the problem wouldn't arise in German!

Spell checkers should pick up things like 'weird' and wierd', however. I'm using Firefox, and it has a spell checker built in, so I've no excuse for any mistakes that I make!
