Lent

Was thinking of giving up something for lent, even tho it's not my religion...mom says give up cheese. It's not a bad idea only because my immediate response was "hell no." I guess that wouldn't work anyway at this point since I had some earlier today...oops

i love the idea that you want to give up something for lent! i usually give up alcohol (fairly easy -- i'm not much of a drinker any more, but st patrick's day always falls right in the middle of lent and wrecks everything) or chocolate (impossibly difficult and boy am i a crabby bitch without it) or swearing (i've tried 3x in 4 years and the longest it lasted was about 6 hours). so as you can see, i'm clearly a credit to my religion!

i could NEVER give up cheese, either! buuuut ... the idea of you temporarily forsaking K for about 6 weeks? might be worth thinking about that one. just saying. xoxo

You lasted longer resisting chocolate than swearing?? HAHAHAHA -- love it so hard.

well, you can physically remove chocolate from your surroundings, which makes it easier to avoid ... ;)

I don't know that I can give him up. But since I haven't seen him since January 19th and he seems to only like to make plans and break them, it's unlikely I will. The problem remains that when he comes back (and there's no doubt in my mind that unless I tell him to go away he will always come back) I have no power to resist

I have friends who instead of giving something up for Lent, do something positive as an affirmation. One is doing something to better himself, the other likes to do things that help others. Just an alternative for someone who understands the need for cheese. :-]
