And God said, "Let there be a gas pipeline." At least, that's what Sarah Palin heard in her pretty little head, apparently.

Yes clearly Palin wants to do "God's Work" especially if it wins her points with her Republican cronies. She also tried to have library books removed when they didn't meet with her God's approval and then tried to fire the librarian who refused to do so.

I was already committed to giving every spare cent to the Obama campaign, maxing out my credit cards to do so, but this woman scares me, it would be worse than bush if McCain died in office and she took over. I wish I were in good health and could travel to help with the ground campaign in the battleground states.

I totally agree with you: The thought of Palin as president is horrifying. I hope independent voters grasp that fact.

Palin (and all the theocrats) remind me of certain barbarian tribes, and their attitudes regarding religious diversity:

"Just as God gave different fingers to the hand so has He given different ways to men."

The book I got this from, Ghengis Khan and the Making of the Modern World, notes that while this pronouncement was being made (incidentally, at the end of a many-day debate where Christians, Muslims, and Buddhists were invited before the Great Khan to discuss religion, and ordered on pain of death that "no one shall dare to speak words of contention"), King Louis IX of France was busily rounding up 12,000 priceless, hand-illuminated Jewish texts and setting fire to them -- an act for which he was later canonized.
