I always love reading your reviews, and this one is certainly no different. SO gutted that I wasn't able to be there last night. But fuck...I'm definitely willing it to be March already!
Not Shambles but Peter's band. Which is a different thing.
This makes me feel a lot better about things. I want to see Peter and not the circus Shambles can be (not that Peter alone can't be one!), but hear it phrased like that makes me smile.
Actually, the 'Not Shambles' made me feel a bit sad... it's been a long struggle for that band to gel as a band, and this felt regressive. But wouldn't want that to take away from how good the night was.
I've been waiting ages to see Peter, just Peter, especially as that's how it's advertised. I think it'll be nice too see him showcased. Do you think it was more regressive or Adam and Drew stepping back for his solo efforts, playing "Peter's band" like you said above?
Saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing Shambles (tried to before!), but it's not what I'm looking for now, you know (not sure how to explain this properly)?
As usual, you really did capture the essence of Sunday night. I'd not want to lose 'Shambles at their most intense and unpredictable or the intamacy of Peter's small solo gigs either, but last night was lovely. I was quite emotional at times. Got the feeling that it meant a huge amount to Peter and the people around him to show that he could put on a proper grown up performance of the new album stuff and he (or rather they - there was a strong sense of everyone working together) did it so well. I came out grinning from ear to ear. xxxx
God I'm still grinning what an amazing exceptional night I got very emotional at points he was such a good musician on Sunday proves he has that in him as well as all the other Peter's. You can sense how important this is to him. London Lite gave it a great review with lots of lovely back handed compliments. Including "for someone so seamingly spineless, he was musically fearless last night" WTF Peters a lot of things but spineless ain't one of them. Anyhows sorry I missed you at the pub but I was a tad over excited uncontrolable I would have been embarrassing at the pub anyway as would have just bounced about like a lunatic. God I love that boy I feel so loved up feel high and just not coming down :)
