I don't get it

I've had one question I've wanted to ask all the various feed-hole-satisfieries for a long time now, what the hell is ciabatta bread? Why is it better? Why do you make a big deal out of serving it? But mostly, what the fuck is it? Anybody can answer, I really don't care. But what in the hell is ciabatta bread?
