Had I only known!

If I knew that I could have a good time being medically evacuated to Pretoria, South Africa, I think I may have been a little more careless earlier. It's SO GREAT to be in a city!! Yeah, it wasn't all that great being kicked by a horse, which sounds a little cliche now that I write it. But I think a little pain might have been worth being able to ( Read more... )

okay ,.....stay away from the animals that are larger than you. They can get moody and unpredictable .... I use the same rule when it comes to drag queens.

so glad you;'re okay .... where did the horse kick you ?..... I know : " africa"

Drag queens and horses can be similar in regard to so many factors. I was actually riding a horse for the first time in my life, and our group got held up by a herd of cattle crossing our path. Long story short, another horse had come along side of my horse, and I think it tried kicking the horse I was on but my leg was in the way. I sustained a slight frature in the lower leg and a gash on my shin, which then got infected, thus bringing me to surgery in Pretoria. Thankfully I feel fine but they don't want to ship me back until the incision from the surgery is completely healed over. Next appt is 8 May, and I have a feeling I may be leaving for my village 9 May.

God! We've been worried about you....now with good reason! Hope all is well...other than getting kicked by a horse, that is.

Enjoy the rest of your 'vacation,' and please be careful; it would be nice for you to come home intact :)

HA! It really has turned into a vacation, just without all the normal vacation assessories, like camera, boots, rubber gear, etc. Thankfully the leg is feeling well enough to walk about on, albeit with a limp after a few minutes. I will be back intact by June 2009!!!! I have a calendar in my hut counting down the days.

That is so not funny, or I'm as far from a masochist as I thought. I got kicked by someone elses horse while I was on my own. I really didn't expect such an outcome...very surprised that I made it onto the saddle on the first try without even going right over. I even stayed on the saddle on the numerous occassions my horse tried pulling me over it's head when it grazed. Amazing how things work.

And thank god the training wasn't 6 months, as I didn't think I would make it all the way through the 2 months. I will be back June 2009!!!!

I miss the gang :-(
