train story

This morning a man fell flat on his face in front of me on the train. It didn't quite register at first, I just heard the muffled crumpling sound of a body collapsing on the floor. He was unconscious only for about 30 seconds but all my emergency response adrenaline was pumping before I knew it. He was alright, just fainted. But what struck me was ( Read more... )

Nice Story :)

Shame society is such that everyone in the vicinity didn't automatically try and help. But helping can get you in trouble real fast depending on the person/situation.

Mostly people seemed too surprised to react at first, but after I stepped forward others also offered a hand. I've never been worried about doing the wrong thing tho

Of course it could be as simple that he woke up looking into the face of Jesus Christ and thought "oh... I'm dead! well, at least I've gone to Heaven. I didn't think they'd have trains in Heaven....."

Maybe old mate was blessed with low blood pressure like yours truly!

It's super comforting the way random strangers will go to the aid of a person in distress; makes me feel like I'm living in a community after all. Kudos to you, Greg.

Yeah it happens when a loonie starts raving at the top of their voice too - as soon as they're off the train everyone starts talking to the person next to them.

Its almost enough to make me do some 'performance-art-intervention', you know, to kind of, you know, penetrate the complacency of the everyday... Ya.
