Tony! Tony!

Jun 21, 2010 13:58

So! I finally got around to watching the Tony Awards. A week late, but work sucks and studying sucks even more, and they both tend to get in the way of my blissful enjoying of Broadway goodies. Oh, well.

1. SEAN HAYES WINS FOREVER. Oh, how I love this man. He can do no wrong.

2. Also, KChen. Do marry me, k? I can cook, you know. That Kristin/Sean kiss with bonus buttslap filled me with glee.

3. Angela Lansbury is the one person on this earth who can turn a speech into a PSA and not make me roll my eyes and go "puh-lease!". Because he's AngelafuckingLansbury and she can do as she pleases and it will always be awesome.

4. Daniel Radcliffe is getting more hobbit-like by the day. I don't mean that as a compliment. And Katie Holmes sounded like a robot low on batteries.

5. What is wrong with Ricky Martin's face, man? It freaked me the hell out.

6. GO ANTONIO! I'm ridiculously excited to have a Spanish man out there in the world, being Puss-In-Bootsy and Broadway-y and awesome in general.

7. I wonder how it feels to be Scarlett Johansson and get awards for everything you do. It must be quite fantastic. And Ryan Reynolds getting all choked up made me go "Aww".

8. I also wonder how it feels to be Katie Finneran and win an award for which AngelafuckingLansbury was also nominated. It probably feels like heaven on toast. Which is good, because Katie is very sweet and deserves heaven on toast.

9. Sean: You didn't win anything.
Kristin: That's unusual for me.

You guys. Let's rock a threesome-y marriage arrangement, shall we? Also, Ms Lansbury was like "OH LOL KCHEN YOU'RE SO FUNNY" and I was like "Aw Ms Lansbury approves so this must be objectively awesome!" And it made me happy.

10. Catherine Zeta Jones. I love her so freaking much, but I wasn't wild about that song. I like her better in livelier numbers, personally. Like "They Can't Take My Oscar Away" XD Also, Michael is clearly aware of how lucky he is to be married to that woman, so I forgive him for stealing her from me.

11. Robert Kaplowitz: *holds Tony in front of his chest* This is like the greatest piece of bling ever. I'm gonna get a chain.

HA! I like you, Mr Kaplowitz. And you deserved that sound design Tony, because Fela! is quite lovely indeed.

12. FUCK YES IDINA MENZEL. I wish she'd have sung, though. But still. FUCK YES. She's clearly the best at announcing winners. Also, the best at existing. And that little handwave/shhh moment when she was like "Oh you guys, stop it, we all know I'm fabulous but I really need to read this k?" OH MY. How I love this woman. She's the bell to my Pavlov's dog. I see/hear her and I go "FUCK YES IDINA MENZEL!" and then I squeal and flail a little bit. And then I admit she's not actually the best at everything, but I love her anyway.

13. That montage with all the new shows was brilliant and I kind of want it in my iPod.

14. Leona won! Woooo! I was so rooting for her. Gorgeous, talented lady. Yes.

15. I so wanted Promises, Promises to win best choreography. I think they deserved it. But Fela! wasn't too disappointing because hello, awesome choreography there, guys.

16. Uncle Fester: *uses finger to turn on the lights*
Sean Hayes: They could've really used you over at the Vibrator play.

LOLOLOLOLOL

17. Mr Schu, you're so cute and talented.

18. Lea, Lea, Lea. You know I love you, right? And you know that was my favorite of "your" songs, right? But, girl, you sounded a bit on the crazycakes side. Srsly. Even people in the audience were like "CALM DOWN, LADY" (except Idina who was like "Yay!" because she's lovely). Pretty dress, though!

19. Sean getting scared of the spider on his Spider-Man costume just made my week. Hee!

20. La Cage aux Folles winning best revival was fantastic and so well-deserved and woooo I was hoping for that.

21. Catherine for best actress! Yay! I always feel uncomfortable when someone I like goes on and on with their speech.

22. I so wanted Sean to win best actor, even though he's probably objectively not the best. But still. He's so wonderful.

23. Memphis for best musical! YES. YES. My year has now been made. Thank you very much.

And now, to get down from my Tony high. Man, I love this stuff.
