When I was a freshman at BYU, my Book of Mormon teacher challenged us to reframe our prayers so that our evening prayers were solely thank-you prayers for our blessings, and then our morning prayers were of the "please help me with..." variety. I loved it--I'm not sure why I got out of the habit of doing it--but I've started again, and it's a good way for me to calm myself in the evening by thinking about all the good things in my life rather than what I'm worried about.
Wow, thank you for sharing that. We recently had a sermon on very much the same topic - that it is not Joy that makes us Grateful, but Gratitude that makes us Joyful. I used to have a practice of noting every day what I was grateful for in this journal, at the end of every post. Following your example, I will try to resume it. I really like the idea of the God jar, too, and the physical act of turning over the hard problems.
Thank you, again, and a very Merry Christmas to you. I know Ki will be glad to be home with her family, and you will be glad to have her with you.
