Is Prop 8 the end all and be all of the gay marriage issue in California? Or can it be challenged somewhere down the line?
And did it really null the marriages?? That's not fair. I mean, my mom who claims that she's against gay marriage, who voted for Obama and who I can talk into most liberal ideas, said that it wasn't fair to null it. :( Fuck California...
Everything, always, can be challenged. There were 3 lawsuits already filed against it, when I was looking this afternoon--the most promising of which, to my eye, states that it was inappropriate to have used the initiative process to get Prop. 8 passed, because it goes against one of the fundamental tenets of CA's constitution (equality of its citizens), and any change to the constitution which is going to affect its core values has to be legislatively ratified, THEN subjected to initiative voting
