nick drake.but i don't know if this is possible for you to write about since he died in '76,i think.either way,he's amazing.there's a lot to say about such a song writer.and i have a biography on him,if you like.although it's not very interesting.but you don't have to write about him if you don't want to.okay,i am rambling,goodbye for now.
I'm actually writing a paper on Between The Buried And Me for one of my classes, but my other suggestions would be Sigur Ros (possibly a better idea than Radiohead), annd maybe Aesop Rock..mostly cause those are my favs, but they are all very different, and all incredibly interesting and good.
maybe not so much tim kinsella but definately ian mackaye because he's so influential and has so much history. though steve albini would probably be the best choice since it is an audio production class and if you don't know who steve albini is you should probably kill yourself.
