OK so I *really* want to see it too! NYU has a ticket office for cheap tickets, but unfortunately, Equus isn't on the list. I'll keep my eyes open, though =)

do ny theaters do that pre-show lottery? i know in chicago, wicked for example, you can sign up, stand there for two hours before the show, and if they don't sell out the front row tickets (which apparently they frequently don't since those go for hundreds of dollars), you can be picked out of a hat to sit there (for $25). iiiiiiiiiiiiiffffffffffffffffff broadway does that, it would be sweet, but it's a gamble. so maybe your last resort.

Well... not to be the really ostentatious and obnoxious drama student, but I saw it and thought it SUCKED. Unfortunately, I have no advice concerning the tickets, because mine were pre-purchased for me by the program I'm on... I would call the theatre and see if they have student rush. If so, you can show up something like an hour or half an hour before and get cheaper tickets. Most often, Broadway theatres do not have student rush, but sometimes they do. Honestly, if I were you, I'd spend significantly less money and see "Kindness" at Playwrights Horizons, or spend the same amount of money, but instead see a TERRIFIC show (August: Osage County at the Music Box). But I can't tell you what to do, especially considering my drama-bias, my familiarity with the text (which is probably what leads to a lot of the disappointment), and my very likely much lesser enthusiasm for Harry Potter's-- ahem-- wand. But seriously, if you don't end up getting a ticket, be comforted knowing that I thought it SUCKED. :)

Columbia is sponsoring $30 student tickets to see Equus - if you're interested, send me an email with a date + time and I'll see what I can do.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a way to see Equus, but NYU is part of telecharge's collegetix, which gets cheap broadway tickets - right now they're selling Equus tickets for $32, through February I think. Thing is, you have to have a student ID to pick up the ticket half an hour before the show starts. So if you have any good friends who will either wait with you in line or lend you an ID, you should go for it.
