I'm so behind

What is so great about MySpace?

I had a brief look at it, and it looks very much a non-interesting thing.

Well, the beeb claim to have the answer"Asking for someone's e-mail address can be "creepy", says Briana, who is from California and works in London, because it's "personal, one-to-one contact ( Read more... )

Only big plus to Myspace is the ability to add music on there. I just use it to keep up with Al etc.
Did you join?

Nope, I refuse to partake in it until someone convinces me that it's worthwhile.

Good though it would be to see what Al etc are up to!

Grrr. I almost convinced myself there.

Hehe see...it has its plus points! It would enable you to send him a message or 3, see what the band has been up to, maybe drop me a line also and maybe...just maybe find some new music to listen to ;)

Go on...you know you wanna...:D

Still not sold, I'm afraid!

So what has the band been up to? Tell em they need to tour Dublin!

I just find sites like MySpace and Bebo really boring. There's just nothing there that appeals to me.

i joined mostly like Ashes, to keep up on music. and post retarded looking pictures of myself and find people i went to high school with and then mock them.

i don't understand about the email thing either. i give mine out to whomever and if i don't like them, i block them or ignore them!!!

I'd say that very few of my online 'crew' share my taste in music, so that's certainly not contributing to my overall desire to join, which at this stage is entirely 'not'.

*LOL* i don't have many people on my friends list and i don't interact there as much as i do here on LJ or on CS. i prefer both of those instead but it's fun to mock the dumbasses i went to high school with and they don't even know it. :P

I'm completely with you on the email thing. That's one of the great things about email - that if you find out later that someone is actually an obnoxious fuckwit, you can just block them and delete all their emails. Briana probably got stalked by an ex-boyfriend and ever since has secretly resented phone companies, the internet and the friend who introduced her to him on a blind date ( ... )

"When Briana, who works in the music industry, hits the town, goes to a gig or a party and meets someone interesting, they trade MySpace profiles and stay in contact. "

She certainly has issues.

I'm glad you said all that, it reaffirms (in much greater detail) my first impression of the place.

Ang has it pretty much spot on. It's all style, no substance. I find my tolerance for lack of substance is growing less the older I get, which is probably why MySpace initially failed to impress me and subsequently grew to annoy me quite a lot.

myspace is for people with not to say, and lots of "style" to not say it with. it's for scenesters, and people promoting their crappy bands. it's a abomination, and you should hate it. then you will not be behind the times, you will be one of the cooler group of people that despise myspace.
