Beautiful. And an ambitious layout of tea lights. It resembles one of those 'spin' paintings done at a county fair or a cross-section from a tree trunk; radiating lines coming from a center point. I love the arched ceiling. It looks positively ancient.
Thanks! I think that it looks so old because the walls are so dirty. I think that the streetcars that ran in it were electric so my assumption is that a lot of the stains on the walls that look like they were caused by smoke were due to fires started in the tunnel by the homeless (and by people who like partying).
How warm is Utah this time of the year? I'm feeling the need to ditch Minneapolis for a weekend and I'd like to go somewhere fairly warm. I need to get out to the middle of nowhere and find some towns where nobody lives anymore.
The areas where it is the warmest (southern Utah - low 70's) are also the areas where you would find the best abandoned towns, so it is a win-win situation. Salt Lake is still in the 40's, but it is warmer than Minneapolis!
I don't know about the openning, but the blocked up entrance is just down the grassy hill descending from the Cathedral to downtown St. Paul. There is even a staircase going down the hill to it.
As Mr. LoKey mentioned, to get to the walled off section is pretty easy. The entrance is very tough to get to now, though, because it's behind the concrete they used to re-seal it. :)
