Brewing Tea

Things have changed since SHINee disbanded, but what happens when they fail to change what used to be something good once upon a time.
"Come in, and have a seat," he greeted me as he opened the door and shut the cold out. He took off my coat and ran to the kitchen to lower the heat on the whistling tea kettle.
"Jonghyun, Jinki is here," he called from the bottom of the stairs. I smiled seeing my two friends, Kibum and Jonghyun, living finally in their new home together after all the years we spent as a group. The media was no longer our constant companion, and the ridicule had finally died down. Now we could all finally get on with our lives.
"Hey, Jinki, how have you been?"
"Doing, good, I see you guys aren't doing so bad yourselves."
"Yup, never better," Jonghyun said as he wrapped his arms around Kibum's shoulder. And that's when I first saw it. Kibum stared at the tea simmering.
"Has Kibum showed you around the house?"
"No, but it's fine, I'm comfortable just sitting here," I lied.
"No, come on, you have to see the house. Kibum, go show him."
I followed Kibum up the stairs, but he kept silent, and I did the same. The tea kettle began to whistle again, but we just continued walking.
The whistling continued, and with greater volume than before. We still kept walking. Then the kettle stopped.
When we returned downstairs, Jonghyun still was on the couch, and the kettle was still being heated on the stove. All the tea had evaporated. Kibum turned the stove off and apologized.
I wanted to ask Jonghyun why he didn't do anything about it when he could plainly see and hear what was going on, and I wanted to ask Kibum why he apologized for something that wasn't his fault. But I already knew the answers.
A/N: Mmmkay, not sure how well I got the message across. So this may have been a totally failed attempt >.<
