Illness sucks and blows, simultaneously

This morning (at 4:30), I had to go to the ER because my throat was so sore that I could not swallow. I was given lidocaine in a syrupy liquid form to gargle, plus amoxicillin. I'm uncertain about the antibiotic, but since the sore throat has been getting progressively worse since Monday, I guess I'd better just take the stuff. The gargle is ... ( Read more... )

I've used the lidocaine syrup last year after I had salivary gland surgery to relieve my discomfort from the sutures under my tongue. It was kind of nasty, but it helped. *big hugs* *mugs of herbal tea when it won't interfere with the lidocaine*

Fortunately, I haven't needed the lidocaine syrup since the first day. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the flu part of what I have is mostly gone. Now I'm just dealing with the latent sinus infection.

Thanks for well-wishes! I am, in fact, drinking some of Allison's wonderful ginger tea right now. (She brought me a bottle Thursday night.)
